In 1844, Edgar Allan Poe wrote his epic poem, "The Raven." In 1954, beloved cartoonist Charles Schulz introduced us to a nameless character who was only identified by the ridicule of others - "Pig-Pen." Though only known by ridicule, he lived with a profound sense of self-acceptance. Acceptance, according to author and grief expert, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross is the chief end of grief's journey.

In 2025, Doc Hoff mashed up these two stories to construct "the mashup you didn't know you needed." This comic contains the complete text of Poe's Raven while reimagining the origin story of "Pig-Pen." Within this we are all taught important lessons about grief, acceptance and a journey we must all deal with as we encounter loss.
