Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death”
A Doc Hoff Adaptation

I had such a blast doing my first Poe comic, “The Tell-Tale Heart,” I couldn’t help but doing a second (and more to come)! “The Masque of the Red Death,” is my first full color comic, up to this point, I have been working primarily with black and white, with an occasional color accent. i am really proud of how this one came out. Through the process of rendering Poe’s Horror story into comic book form, I stayed true to the over all narrative, while I did a little bit of a mash up, of two other loves of mine, “Harvey Comics” (with a wink to Richie Rich) and EC Comics, as you can see from the cover. I had a lot of fun with this comic, while it offers to us a journey of self-reflection into our own lives. It calls us to ask, “What are we trying to escape from? What masks are we wearing? How human are we being to others as they suffer.” Enjoy! BwHAHA!
